The Great Disappearance

The Great Disappearance is coming to a neighborhood near you!  And, the stage is being set now for this dramatic event.  No, this is not a magic show where the illusionist seems to make an elephant disappear.  And, this disappearance (the rapture) will not be a performance by man.  Neither will it be an alien abduction! 

Enoch – Foreshadows the Rapture

Events in the Old Testament times foreshadow events to come.  Enoch had faith in God.  His disappearance from earth was an act of mercy as God caught up (raptured) Enoch before the coming flood.  Genesis 5:24 (AMP) And [in reverent fear and obedience] Enoch walked with God; and he was not [found among men], because God took him [away to be home with Him].

Just as Enoch was spared from the coming flood waters, the church (body of believers in Christ Jesus) will be spared from God’s judgments during the seven year tribulation (time of terrifying trouble) on earth.  The rapture will be an act of mercy designed by God the Father and carried out by God the Son.  God the Holy Spirit is the restrainer of evil, and He will “step aside” to allow evil to run rampant on earth. 

God the Father will send His Son Jesus to rescue the church to heaven before the tribulation takes place.  This body of believers (dead and alive) will have lived during the church age from Pentecost (50 days after Christ’s resurrection) until the rapture.  Believers will meet Jesus in the air and be with Him forever.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (NKJV) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Believers during the Church Age

During the church age, believers are those who recognize Jesus is God, the Son of God.  They know they are sinners and that the penalty for sin is death and eternal torment in hell.  They also know Jesus paid their sin debt in full on that cross some 2,000 years ago with His death, burial and resurrection.  They know they will spend eternity, not in hell, but with Jesus in heaven and then in His kingdom on earth.  Believers have claimed Jesus the Christ (the promised Messiah) as their personal Savior, with faith.    

Faith = Trust = Belief

Noah – Came to faith and kept his faith during a sinful troubled time

Noah kept his faith in God during a period of time when every thought of man was evil.  Genesis 6:5 (NLV) Then the Lord saw that man was very sinful on the earth. Every plan and thought of the heart of man was sinful always.

Noah believed God and built an ark as God told him to do even though no one on earth at that time had ever experienced a flood or even rain.  Noah wasn’t spared from this time of tribulation, ridicule, and evil doings.  But just as Noah was saved by trusting God through this time of trouble, God will save the final remnant of Israel who come to faith in His Son Jesus and recognize Him as their promised Messiah.  Because of their disobedience to God, the Jews must endure God’s judgments (divine justice) in the tribulation period.  However, by faith, they then will be saved.

The Left Behind

Those with no faith in Jesus will “miss the boat” and be left behind to face the most terrifying time on earth.  Unless they come to faith during the tribulation, they will perish just like those in the flood waters and suffer eternal torment in hell.

If you haven’t come to faith in Jesus and then find yourself “left behind” after the rapture happens, keep this in mind – Do not be deceived and do not take “the mark of the beast” in order to buy or sell!  Those in power and control will NOT have your best interests at heart.  Many will come to faith during the seven year tribulation on earth.  Don’t wait!  Come to know The Truth (Jesus), be rescued to heaven, and saved for eternity.
